So today is Juneteenth! I can’t tell you how excited I am about this day. Why you might ask? Well…. because it infuriates white folk! Ha ha! I’m just serious!
Honestly, Juneteenth was a day celebrated by black folks long before it was officially made into a Federal Holiday but we understood then and now that so called “freedom,” isn’t equal or fair to the descendants of the enslaved, with or without government recognition. After hundreds of years, we are still micromanaged, lied on, lied to, and pushed into an uncomfortable box of white elitist to keep us at an economic disatvantage. Theeeyyyy define what we need, want, should aim for in life and gatekeep our information and knowledge of self and the Scriptures.
So it is with great excitement that Shalom Home is launching on THIS DAY! On a day where the news finally reached our ancestors that chattel slavery had ended. Can you believe it took 2 WHOLE YEARS before that message reached them! It’s sick. But that’s what happens when white supremacists gatekeep our information. They tell our stories, their way. And the only thing that has ever been good for is THEIR personal interests, not ours.
So here at Shalom Home, we’re changing the narrative. We are telling our stories both locally and abroad. We are aiming to reach diasporans and Continental brothers and sisters with the truth that heals, restores, informs, ignites passion, encourages and delivers from spiritual bondage and chains. And we do so UNAPOLOGETICALLY! We are not afraid to preach the good news of Yahusha HaMasiach which is the power to change, the power to set free from Egyptian captivity in all its forms. So, no more gatekeeping. No more holding back the truth. It’s time to tell our story, our way!
